Chapter 5 - Jealousy Isabel hung up the phone, dejected. She could not believe Alex had blown her off, again. She’d called to invite him over for the afternoon, and had spoken only to his mother, who had informed her that Alex had already headed out with Liz. In the week since Liz had returned from school, Isabel had barely seen Alex. She didn’t want to feel as annoyed at that as she did. Alex and Liz had been close friends for a long time, and they had a lot to catch up on. She felt as if she was being selfish, wanting Alex all to herself, but she kinda missed him. He was still around, but she had to share him with his friend, something that hadn’t really come up since the start of their relationship. She knew that Alex had really missed having his long-time friends around him, and she was truly happy for him to have Liz back. She herself was glad that Liz was back. They had always gotten along really well. And Liz’s return had also meant a happier Evans home. Max had been noticeably more cheerful in the last few days. But there was still a kernel of disappointment in Isabel’s heart that she had less ‘Alex-time’. There was also a tiny spark of jealousy. Logically, she knew that Alex and Liz were just friends, always had been, and that she would never had anything to worry about on that score. But lack of time with Alex had her little voices whispering doubts and fears.
